Make traditional Glühwein easily and quickly with this carefully selected blend of spices. Transform a bottle of ordinary red wine into a warm, spicy and aromatic holiday beverage to share with family and friends.
What's Included:
- Mulling Spice Kit (100g | 4-6 Servings) in a glass jar by Bush Berry (a fellow Canadian small business)
- Muslin brew bag
- 12oz double-wall insulated glass mug
Instructions:
- Pour one bottle of sweet red wine (or six cups of apple cider) into a saucepan.
- Add 2-4 Tbsp of our spice blend. To keep the spices enclosed, use a muslin bag or enclosed strainer. You can also add half of a sliced orange (optional) and 1/2-1 cup of sugar.
- Stir the mixture over medium heat until the sugar dissolves. Heat for another 30 minutes, but take care not to let it boil. You can add more sugar to taste.
- Remove the spice bag or strain the mixture, then serve hot.
Tips for Making the Perfect Mulled Beverage:
- To keep the mulled wine warm all day/night, warm it in a crockpot on low heat.
- If you desire, you can add sliced oranges and lemons, as well as cinnamon sticks.
- Always add sugar gradually, taste, and continue. You don't want it to be too sweet, but just right.
- Be careful not to let the alcohol boil, or it will lose its alcohol content.
- If you’re making it safe for kids to drink, replace the wine with apple cider to make a spiced apple cider.
